Before I go into what GMOs are and why are GMOs bad, you have to understand Why There Are GMOs in the first place. GMOs are Genetically Modified Organism, created by a company called Monsanto to increase their Profits.
Who is MONSANTO?
Monsanto is a multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation based in the United States. They are the world’s leading producer of Roundup®, a herbicide with the active ingredient glyphosate.
Monsanto is also the largest producer of genetically engineered (GE) seeds on the planet, accounting for over 90% of the GE seeds planted globally in 2003. Monsanto introduced a genetically modified product (Roundup Ready Soybeans) that were resistant to Roundup.
Roundup Kills Everything except the genetically engineered crop (GMOs the seeds that they sell). The seeds are engineered to resist the Roundup herbicide and further, the toxic (weed killing) residue of Glyphosate remains on the Roundup Ready seeds are genetically modified to withstand the herbicide toxicity. This is also the primary purpose of ALL genetically modified seeds, to resist pest’s – drought – and most importantly pesticide and herbicide.
Are you getting this?
Seeds that are “Roundup Ready” will survive Monsanto’s glyphosate herbicide while killing everything around it, for miles and miles. Even farmers that want to grow and provide you with safe Organic crops.
James Bond villains never came up with a sinister plot like these guys. Do you see something sinister here? If Al Qaeda was poisoning or taking over our food supply would we stand for it for even one day? No, we would bomb them into the ‘Stone Age’.
Monsanto is a nothing more than a; Monopolizing, Death-Dealing company –that’s it. Here is their proud history of killing people for Profit:
- 1901 – Monsanto creates fake sweetener called Sweet N Low (similar to nerotoxic aspartame), now linked to numerous types of cancer.
- 1929 – Monsanto creates polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) one of the most carcinogenic toxins known as the “worst of the worst.”
- 1940s – Monsanto creates polystyrene used in Styrofoam that creates loads of toxic by-products during its manufacturing.
- 1945 – Monsanto ups the ante with chemicals like 2,4-D later used as a component of Agent Orange, and DDT.
- 1956 – Finally someone refuses the biotech giants product. The US Navy refuses to purchase a hydraulic fluid created by the company because it caused “definite liver damage.”
- 1976 – Monsanto introduces Round Up.
- 1984 – Monsanto is forced to pay damages to war veterans exposed to Agent Orange.
- 1994 – Monsanto introduces GM recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) and tries to hide its toxic effects from the public.
- 1990s – Monsanto finally introduces ‘seed’ in the form of GM Bt Cotton which produces its own insecticide. Crops as chemicals – how novel.
- 2003 – Monsanto is forced to pay Aniston, Alabama residents over $700 million over health problems associated with PCB contamination.
- Present – Monsanto infiltrates all top US food safety agencies.
Great News for Monsanto Bad News For You
They don’t have to Buy Your Government Officials… if They Are Your Government Officials
The White House had instructed the FDA to promote biotechnology, and the agency official in charge of policy was Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, later their vice president. He’s now the US Food Safety Czar.
Talk about leaving the Fox to guard the Henhouse.
But Why Are GMOs Bad?
Numerous health problems increased after GMOs were introduced in 1996. The percentage of Americans with three or more chronic illnesses jumped from 7% to 13% in just 9 years; food allergies skyrocketed, and disorders such as autism, reproductive disorders, digestive problems, and others are on the rise.
This increased use of dangerous toxins on crops poses known risks to human health. Highly credible studies have linked exposure to pesticides to a host of major human illnesses, including many cancers, endocrine disruption, reproductive harm and autism.
The potential impact is huge, threatening the health of future generations. GMO contamination has also caused economic losses for organic and non-GMO farmers who often struggle to keep their crops pure
All for the sake of Monsanto’s Profits. Good for them..Bad for you.
GMOs increase herbicide use.
Most GM crops are engineered to be “herbicide tolerant”―they are a deadly weed killer. What are they doing to you. Monsanto, for example, sells Roundup Ready crops, designed to survive applications of their Roundup herbicide.
Between 1996 and 2008, US farmers sprayed an extra 383 million pounds of herbicide on GMOs. Overuse of Roundup results in “superweeds,” resistant to the herbicide. This is causing farmers to use even more toxic herbicides every year. Not only does this create environmental harm, GM foods contain higher residues of toxic herbicides. Roundup, for example, is linked with sterility, hormone disruption, birth defects, and cancer.
Genetic engineering creates dangerous side effects.
By mixing genes from totally unrelated species, genetic engineering unleashes a host of unpredictable side effects. The very process of creating a GM plant can result in massive collateral damage that produces new toxins, allergens, carcinogens, and nutritional deficiencies.
The FDA Will Do Nothing To Protect You
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), for example, doesn’t require a single safety study, does not mandate labeling of GMOs, and allows companies to put their GM foods onto the market without even notifying the agency. FDA’s own scientists statement was that GMOs can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects.
Why Don’t We Hear More About This?
If they can Buy your government officials they can Stop the Media from reporting these crimes. Scientists who discover problems with GMOs have been attacked, gagged, fired, threatened, and denied funding. Attempts by media to expose problems are also often censored.
Am I Just Trying To Scare You?
I just want to make you aware, of a problem. I’m not even asking you to stop eating GMO’s, but Do You Want To Know What Products Have GMO’s so You can Decide for YOU?
The United States is one of the few developed nations not to require the labeling of genetically engineered foods. Even China and Russia label them! Don’t you think we have a right to know what’s in our food?
Over 90% of Americans believe GMO products should be labeled, and a majority says they would avoid buying them if they were. As a result, Monsanto have spent millions of dollars to kill proposals for GMO labeling. To protect their Profits.
The refusal of European citizens to serve as guinea pigs for Monsanto has hampered the company’s efforts to expand there. Clearly, it is not only activists and ‘nut jobs’ who have expressed legitimate concern about GMOs. Governments and scientists also clearly perceive the difference between natural products and GMOs, and taken steps to guard against potential dangers.
The FDA is preparing to approve genetically engineered Salmon, which would be the first genetically engineered animal on supermarket shelves in the United States. The salmon is engineered to produce growth hormones year-round that cause the fish to grow at twice the normal rate. The government already requires labels to tell us if fish is wild-caught or farm-raised — don’t we also have a right to know if our salmon is genetically engineered? Without labels, we’ll never know.
Information Is Not Restriction
The choice to buy and ingest GMOs is Your choice, the same as Smoking. But, shouldn’t you know where the danger is? By avoiding GMOs, you contribute to the coming tipping point of consumer rejection, forcing them out of our food supply.
Because GMOs give no consumer benefits, if even a small percentage of us start rejecting brands that contain them, GM ingredients will become a marketing liability. Food companies will kick them out. In Europe, for example, the tipping point was achieved in 1999, just three years after GMOs were introduced in 1996. Why in 2015, is it still not Mandatory to Label in the US?
Why doesn’t Monsanto want you to know?
